What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic Walking was first developed by national cross country ski teams as a means to maintain fitness throughout the summer months. Nordic walkers use specialized poles designed to push off the ground, which have the dual effect of providing a full-bodyworkout- even though it feels like a simple walk in the park.
The bottom line is that by using specialized Nordic walking poles and proper technique you can burn 40% more calories while not having to walk longer or faster, and without risking the overuse injuries that so many have suffered through due to their addiction to high-impact sports.
Where can I Nordic walk?
Nordic walking can be done anywhere, including paved roads, dirt roads or trails, bike paths, tracks or even in malls. Technique can make a difference and it is recommended to take a clinic to ensure that you are getting the maximum benefit from your workout.
